Pastorale:

This program of richly nuanced works inspired by natural settings and perfect for a late summer evening spans the repertoire for flute, viola and harp. From Debussy's timeless Trio Sonata (often referred to as his masterpiece composition) to recent works written specifically for Trio Kavak, these pieces showcase the gorgeous and intoxicating timbres possible when combining plucked and bowed strings with a melodious and warm flute, evocative of wind and air. With a heavy dose of lush French impressionism (Ravel, Faure, and Debussy), tempered by some heady and romantic Beethoven, and rounded out with lighter new music, this selection of pieces expertly performed is well-balanced and sure to delight the senses!
